Have you released new music and now not sure how to get it out there? Have you considered approaching your local record store?
It can seem a little intimidating to walk into a local record store to ask them to stock your music, but simply asking the question could get your work on their shelves.
Emma Perks is the owner of Spinning Around Records in Wellington and she is so keen to stock local music in her store, she is hoping to create a whole 'Local Music' section.
But how do you go about it?
We put the question to Emma...
Giving your audience a local outlet to get hold of physical copies of your music and merch could be a brilliant option to growing your fan base.
Plus, if you share your music with a record store that cares about promoting LOCAL and is dedicated to serving their customers, you might find that they can recommend your work to customers. In-store outlets are the perfect opportunity for those 'ooh, if you like that...then you will love this' moments.
So perhaps 2024 will be the year that you walk into your local record store with an armful of your music and ask to see it there on the shelves.
