LAUNCH NIGHT

The Salopian Mixtape Launch Night took over Albert's Shed in Shrewsbury on Thursday 23rd November and it was an incredible night!

Adele and Andy were the first act to hit the stage. the duo performed a stripped back set, which really gave us chance to hear the skilled musicianship of Andy and beautiful vocals from Adele. Their songwriting captured the audience and it was so lovely to see how this duo interacted with one another on stage. It was the first time they had featured keys on a live performance...but we would have never known! Just amazing.

Missink was the second act to the stage on launch night and she had the audience in the palm of her hand.

She took the chance to share her range and versatility, through a variety of tempos, feels and even genres. Her high energy performance and her stage presence had the audience impressed throughout and, even with limited stage space, Missink managed to own the stage. It was so great to hear how she uses her voice like an absolute pro, never missing a beat and getting her message across with power, speed and total clarity.
As a solo, female artist she manages to exude confidence with a level of sass and attitude, without coming across cocky or brash. Missink is definately going places.

The unstoppable force of Chasing August were third to the stage on launch night and wow - they were amazing.

Chasing August are known for their high energy performances, on-stage dance moves, incredible musicianship and connection with the audience - it is fair to say they did not disappoint. Now this band do not travel light...but they clearly know how to make the most out of their set up. They absolutely lit up the stage and fired up the audience. Thier set demonstrated their incredible talents as individuals and so showed us how instinctive they are with each other during performances, with harmonies on point and pauses in absolute unison. This band made a complicated set look and sound effortless. If you love their recorded music, you will be obsessed hearing them live - just another level.

The fourth and final act was Dan Owen

The Launch Night was the evening before the release of Dan's brand new album The Willow Tree, so we were treated to a host of new music and it the audience were wrapped up in his performance. Even if you've seen him perform live before, Dan Owen is such a humble guy on when he talks about his music, you almost forget his world class talent. The moment Dan starts singing, he just grabs the audience and hooks them into every single word. His performance included some 'old school Dan Owen' powerful harmonica, which went down really well and a heavier version of Bring Back Love where he showed the incredible force of his sensational voice.

Beyond the music...

Special thanks must go to Telford College staff and students who filmed the event and will be producing videos of each of the artists. The students were so professional throughout the event and it looks like they got some amazing footage - we can't wait to see it!

Photography on the night came from Krisography, who did a brilliant job capturing the essence of those amazing performances through his photos. All photos on the night were taken by Krisography, other than this one...we snapped him as he was busy working.
